After the American Revolutionary War on December 12, 1787, Pennsylvania became the second state to ratify the U.S. Constitution. It was in Philadelphia where the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address were written. It was also the home of some very important early thinkers and some of our Founding Fathers such as George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Paine.

More about the ornament
The capital of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, was founded in 1682 and was known as the “City of Brotherly Love”. Philadelphia played a very important role during the 18th century. It was where both the first and second Continental Congress, a body of representatives from each of the thirteen British colonies, had met in 1774 and 1775. These important meetings would be where eventually the Declaration of Independence would be produced igniting the American Revolution.
