Mount Rushmore is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The granite rockface is one of the most recognizable monuments in the United States. Between October 4, 1927, and October 31, 1941, Artist, Gutzon Borglum and 400 workers sculpted the colossal 60-foot-high (18 m) carvings of United States Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln to represent the first 130 years of American history.
