Overlooking the the tidal basin in Potomic Park, this monument is a tribute to Thomas Jefferson. Designed by John Russell Pope, the white marble, Greek Revival building reflects the president's own taste in architecture and bears a marked resemblance to Monticello, his Virginia home. 26 columns supporting a domed ceiing sourround the circular structure while a 19' high statue of Jefferson by sculptureRudolph Evans dominates the inside.
