Edward Lehman, artist/illustrator from Quakerstown, PA, was allowed to sketch renderings of the newly redocorated White House rooms. On Feb 9, 1962 his drawings appeared in the Philadelphia Bulletin and caught the attention of Jacqueline Kennedy. Appreciating his fine work, she commissioned him to paint the images for their staff Christmas gifts--the Red Room,(1962) Green Room (1963) and Blue Room (1964). This evening scene of the White House at Christmas was painted by Edward Lehman for the original cover of the book, "Season's Greeting from the White House" by Mary Evans Seeley. The print is 11" x 14" with a 2" white border.
